EGYPTIAN MYSTERY SCHOOL TEACHINGS & LUXOR BASED RETREAT

ABOUT

Sacred Awakenings is an Egyptian experiential holiday encompassing the teachings of the ancient Egyptian mystery schools in a retreat-style location. It includes traditional Nubian-style lodging, vegetarian food and workshop teaching.

BACKGROUND

Teaming up with a friend living in Luxor, who also happened to own a lovely retreat venue there called the Flower of Light, we set about creating a spiritual retreat business. This was based on a joint passion for ancient Egypt and a love of exploring the ancient world.

Since we were a small team and wanted to give a quality of service to each retreat, we decided to focus on small, intimate group travel, and include day trips to ancient sites, yoga, meditation and healing foods from her centre.

ACTION

My role from the UK side was to promote the quarterly ten day retreats as well as accompany the groups out to Luxor. Drawing on my copywriting skills and getting to grips quickly with the complexities of the travel industry, I created a number of adverts promoting the quarterly retreats. These were then featured in a number of prominent local magazines, as well as the UK’s most popular spiritual magazine, Kindred Spirit. I also did a good old fashioned ‘leaflet drop’ at popular esoteric London locations including Watkins Bookshop, The College of Psychic Studies and Neal’s Yard of Covent Garden.
