University of Hull ‘More Than A Degree’ Campaign

ABOUT

JWT or J. Walter Thompson is a global, award-winning advertising agency. Based in London's high-end Hyde Park area and working as part of its corporate communication's arm, JWT Inside, I wrote across a range of clients and leading brands.

Working as a mid-weight copywriter, my focus was on the client's internal and external employee communications, encompassing branding, psychology, recruitment drives and promotional events. These included press adverts, outdoor, digital (banners, buttons, web copy) and direct mail.

The clients I primarily wrote across were London Olympics, London Mayor, Diageo (Baileys, Guinness, Smirnoff), B&Q, Expedia and London Metropolitan Police.

THE WORK

The University embarked on a major recruitment drive to attract more students who may not have been considering Hull as an option to study at. This was mostly due to its remote northern British location, which also gave it the impression of being dull and outdated. This was quite the opposite in fact.

As part of a major campaign consisting of press, Tube adverts and outdoor, the below billboards were situated at major traffic points in targeted UK cities and played on popular television shows whilst also showcasing the University’s unique selling points.

Choosing the University of Hull gives you ‘more than a degree’.
