MY CAREER STORY

I could spin you a tale of a career that ticks all the boxes in some sort of chronological masterpiece, but that would be boring. Instead I’ve allowed curiosity to play my muse and an inner calling to be my driving force. For this reason I have steered my career in different directions, collecting skills and experience along the way but always coming back to my core centre: my love of words.

I’m also a bit of a travel enthusiast exploring far flung corners, immersing myself in the local lingo and tasting travel bites of once-in-a-lifetime moments. From the gothic streets of Edinburgh to the cobbled back lanes of Kyoto’s Ponto-cho, from the rolling green hills of Devon with its chocolate box houses that crowd the harbour shore to the ultra modern-meets-old majesty that is London Town, I have walked the streets as a local and been proud to call these places my home.

My work has led me on a journey of discovery, delight and continual learning. I’ve dined with Geisha and talked technology. I’ve rubbed shoulders with UN delegates and discussed the complexities of global warming. I’ve even rode camel back amongst the ruins of a lost ancient city called Petra whilst translating into Japanese for my fellow work-team-adventurers. 

I’ve written about luxury hotels on Dubai’s glittering Sheik Zayed Road, captured the quintessence of Kyoto and its world cultural heritage status in promotional brochures for conference planners, and I’ve delivered presentations pitching for a 2,000 capacity finance conference in Israel. 

I’ve crafted headlines, written jingles, brainstormed big ideas, scripted storyboards, spun hypnotic tales, blogged, posted and promoted.

Whether word weaving as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, crafting crisp and compelling copy as a Creative Copywriter, building cultural bridges as an International Relations Co-ordinator, or tapping into past magical moments and weaving them into inspirational stories as a Content Writer, I’ve folded these experiences into a global suitcase of skills that I bring with me everywhere.

My DNA is global and my mindset is leading-edge. 

Looking at my resume to date you’ll see a diverse collection of names from conference centres to ad agencies, tourism boards to recruitment brands.  Names that include Hakuhodo (Sydney), Kyoto International Conference Center (Japan), Kyoto Convention Bureau, DDB (Dubai), Fortune Promoseven (Dubai), Wunderman (Dubai), Haygarth (London), JWT (London), Heavenly (London), Hays Recruitment (London) and Apple Inc (Sydney). 

But what I’m most excited about is where I’m standing now, at the proverbial fork in the road. It’s a promising road ahead and one I’m excited to walk along.
